Imagine studying in Tasmania
Your home away from home
A small paradise just off the coast of Australia
Tasmania is a unique island-state located 240 km south of Australia and famous for its diverse, spectacular landscapes. Three times larger than Wales, nature is literally everywhere in 'Tassie': over 30% of its territory is covered in reserves, national parks, and protected areas - a true paradise for nature lovers.
Tasmania offers once-in-a-lifetime adventures in the wilderness: from hiking on rugged Cradle Mountain, where you can challenge yourself to complete the popular Overland Track, to kayaking in the Bay of Fires, where you can admire white beaches, blue water and dramatic orange granite boulders. For a cultural experience, visit the historic site of Port Arthur or spend the day at eclectic MONA, one of the finest museums and art collections in the world.
During your time in Tassie, you could spot the famous Tasmanian Devil, a small, temperamental animal which lives in underground caves. And if you enjoy good food, don't think twice - the island is renowned for its cheese, wines and seafood, attracting foodies from all over the country.
The capital, Hobart, is the second oldest city in Australia. Originally a penal colony to which the English colonial rulers sent criminals, today Hobart is a dynamic port city brimming with history and bursting with creativity. You can walk on the picturesque waterfront, walk up the hill to historic Battery Point, visit a gallery or spend time at the famed Salamanca Market.
