Host families
on a Flex programme

Why host:

Hosting you is a unique opportunity to create an everlasting bond. The family has chosen you, and they want to build global friendships and understanding by writing the next chapter of their story with you alongside them.

They believe in the enrichment an exchange programme can bring to their home through joy, curiosity and different perspectives. They receive a reimbursement to help cover your living expenses. Offering a reimbursement allows more families to be included, and helps secure accommodation in your chosen spot.

They hope to have a positive impact on your future, helping you realise your dream of living in their country. They provide a safe environment for you to grow and learn. They also offer you the opportunity to discover new perspectives and ways of living.

Is family life not for you?

We also offer schools with boarding facilities. You live at the school with the other students, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in campus life.

Classic programme in the USA

FAQ

The main difference is that on a Classic programme, you can choose the country but not a specific area or destination within that country; on a Flex programme, instead, you have more choice - in many cases, you can choose the area and specific school or school district. In addition, on most Flex programmes you can choose which subjects you'd like to study and which sports or activities you'd like to take part in, based on your interests and skills. In addition, compared to Classic programmes, Flex programmes tend to be more flexible in terms of language and age requirements. It's a great choice for candidates looking for an experience tailored around them.

The fee for a Flex programme is higher than for a Classic programme because it provides for the host family stipend/subsidy, which often helps with securing accommodation in your chosen location. The higher fee also includes all tuition fees charged by the overseas host school.

Depending on the destination, the Flex programme gives you the opportunity to choose either a geographical area within your host country (e.g. France) or the specific school or school district (Canada, USA, Australia) that best meets your needs, both on an educational level and in terms of personal preferences. Whatever you want from the experience, we have the region or school that meets your requirements. If you're not sure about which options are available, or which schools might be a good fit, reach out to our team: WEP can provide recommendations to help you choose the right programme, area and school!

If you join the Classic exchange programme, then it is not possible to graduate from school overseas. On a Flex programme, it may be possible to graduate overseas, but we would need to discuss this possibility at the time of application. Generally speaking, no diploma is issued at the end of a high school exchange - a honorary certificate may be provided in some countries.
