Recently founded Torrance Unified School District (TUSD) is made up of four schools: South High School, North High School, West High School and Torrance High School. The latter, opened in 1917, gives its name to the entire district and is known for its beautiful buildings, listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and featured in many TV shows and movies.

The district offers a wide assortment of subjects, sports and art programs. Nestled in the heart of the South Bay, in the south-western area of Los Angeles, Torrance is very close to the beach and known for its award-winning surf team.
